Why Carers Week matters in Leeds

In Leeds, there are over 61,500 unpaid carers supporting a friend or family member. Carers Week is our chance to shine a light on the vital contribution of unpaid carers, make caring visible across our city, and connect people with the support available from Carers Leeds and our partners.

Building Carer Friendly Communities Across Leeds

Across Leeds, unpaid carers play a vital role in supporting family members, friends and loved ones, yet many still face challenges that can impact their health, wellbeing and daily lives. This Carers Week, we’re highlighting the importance of creating carer friendly communities – places where carers are recognised, understood and supported.

Throughout the week, Carers Leeds will be working across communities, workplaces, health and social care settings to connect carers with support and opportunities. Our programme includes a money guidance workshop, a bereaved carers’ trip to St Aidan’s RSPB reserve, and attendance at events across the city.

We’ll also be showcasing the wider work we do year-round with employers, our support in hospitals, partnerships with community groups and collaboration with social care partners to help carers across Leeds access the information, support and guidance they need to live fulfilling lives.
